YOGA AND THE ORGANIC GARDEN Monday, June 1, 2009 I am an avid cook and gardener and have almost as much passion for my garden and cooking as I do for my yoga practice. There are some many comparisons to be made between my two favorite things in life. Every year I plant 8 pots of beautiful vegetables and herbs. Each morning I run outside to see how much they have grown and bloomed over night.

I really appreciate the constant change, growth and beauty that occurs with my beautiful organic garden every day. I find that my yoga practice also evolves every single time. With each full cleansing breath I take in all the good the universe has to offer and with every exhale I release all the stuff that has stored up during the day much like the plants in my garden.

Each time I breathe and slowly venture into a pose like trikonasana (triangle pose) I stretch my arms out, while extending my torso much like the plants branching out and growing up and out

It is fantastic to get to watch the plants grow and even more fantastic to go outside and pick and eat from these beautiful plants.

The pots in the plants gather energy from one another much like I gather energy while taking a class with other students. As each person sends out positive vibes and vibrations the energy transforms the room and those in it much like the energy the plants get from being flooded with the radiance from the sun.

The moral of this story.. Enjoy the vibrations that nature gives off and accept the radiant energy from those around you on or off the mat. Be happy.. Be vibrant.. Be amazing.. Be organic.. Be yoga.. Just Be..

Om Shanti.. Jill Friedfertig
