The incredible Cora WenMeet Cora Wen. Self proclaimed Yogi Crone!
The tale of Cora Wen.. Self proclaimed Yogi Crone

A woman who calls herself crone is willing to acknowledge her age, wisdom, and power.

While living in San Francisco enjoying a lucrative career in corporate banking Cora Wen first discovered yoga. She yearned to stay physically and mentally fit and found her way to Rodney Yee’s Yoga class. Instantly she was hooked and sought to learn more.

After many years of balancing her career and yoga, her love for her practice won out and she became a yoga teacher full time. She is an avid and focused practitioner of traditional Hatha yoga, meditation and philosophy, and has been trained by America’s Master Yoga teachers, Judith Hanson Lasater, Erich Schiffmann, Patricia Walden and Rodney Yee. Cora assisted Rodney Yee for 7 years. From 1996–2003, she had a private teaching apprenticeship with Erich Schiffmann, and since 1998 assists Judith Hanson Lasater in teacher training and therapeutic workshops.

Cora offers alignment-based classes with a focus on meditation and yoga philosophy. She Leads International tours and nationwide workshops, trainings and retreats for yoga teachers and her students.

She blends the safety of Iyengar alignment, with a flowing practice to enliven your spirit. In her teacher training classes Cora instructs her students to hold their poses for 1full minute and challenges them to utilize muscles in a different way. She energizing them with her words and encourages them to use the breath more fluently.

“These are not the sexy workshops, I teach therapeutic workshops for teachers to help them work with shoulder and back injuries while still practicing asanas. I bring them back to the basics of yoga practice.

I challenge my flow people by having them hold poses and I challenge my Iyengar people by encouraging them to flow and use different muscles. I teach my students to use your breath for energy and teach them about the Chinese energy meridians.” “My classes are hard but the students leave filled with energy and promise”

Cora goes back to basics with her teaching and prefers to go back to her roots where a pose is just a pose. She can willingly do a lot of fancy poses but prefers to teach the true essence of yoga practice. Her therapeutic and anatomy workshops are geared for teacher trainees so that they may go on and use their skills to help people find freedom from injuries and chronic ailments like arthritis, sciatica and fibromyalgia.

Cora is truly taking her yoga off the mat and into the world. She is embracing her femininity and strength at the same time. She has many yogic tales yet to share and I look forward to learning more from this beautiful yogi crone in the near future.

Look for Cora’s upcoming retreat and exploration with yoga in the Himalayas and other destinations in the world.
