Meet Catherine Chidiac Beirut.. LebanonMeet Catherine Chidiac
At the age of 31, Catherine Chidiac lives her life between yoga, travels and painting.

She did her latest exhibition on Monday August 3rd 2009 in her Achrafieh apartment in Beirut Lebanon. She was presenting dozens of paintings, mixing concrete images and more abstract forms: representations of Frida Kahlo (one of her favorite artists besides Gustave Klimt), Arab calligraphies, mantras facing abstract spaces in shades of gold and copper. "I like gold colors and textures because it changes with light, it reflects the world in which we live in " explains the young woman for whom abstract forms are inspired from science and life and reflect the forms of nature.

She also shows her spiritual side and believes that all men are linked:"The only thing that separates us is our physical envelop" she says.

Catherine Chidiac started painting about 28 years ago. My Brazilian mother is in interior architect. Shes the one who gave me my first inspirations. In my childhood, there were always crayons and brushes next to me" recalls the young woman.

She left Beirut at the age of 18 to study art and design at Richmond College in London then worked in the advertising industry as an art director, a profession she quickly abandoned It just wasn't my thing, " There was too much competition, and I know that life is not about competing, but completing " . She then worked for a year as a presenter of ABC TV station but left that job for the same reasons.

She went on traveling finding the dots that knits her life . "Ever since I was a child, I've felt the need to travel, discover the world get mixed with other parts of me". Catherine has made of her life a long journey and it's in Mexico while improvising a fun class at Puerto Escondido's beach, that she discovered her Dharma in life as a yoga teacher "the energy flew through me it wasn't me anymore saying things and leading others into postures: it was yoga". Her next trip took her to India where she did her teacher training and spend a few month in an ashram. She went on to take workshops in Thailand and New York : " I feel there is so many techniques to learn and discover to help apply the simplest thing into every day's life" She has been In Beirut a few month for now teaching a Vinyasa flow yoga style inspired by all the classes, workshops and trainings she did.

Whats next or any future plans " today is already too long to think about tomorrow" Catherine says.
