From a young age Iyala found her love of nature, art, singing, and movement. She graduated with a BFA in Fine Arts, also completing the yoga teaching training program at Jivamukti Yoga in 1999. She began teaching yoga and traversing the world, settling in Hawaii for 5 years, and now in New York City where she teaches regular classes at Equinox and Reebok. Learning about different cultures and healing practices continues to enhance her teaching and inner growth. Her guidance is a mixture of grounded knowledge and compassionate spontaneity, providing a deeply physical, emotional,and spiritual experience. Weaving her classes on the sacred loom of the present, she enables the practice of yoga to be tactile and ever evolving.
