Madhavi Marcia Scredon taught her first class in 1976 while still in college. She has been offering classes in Gwinnett County for sixteen years. Her eclectic teaching style is heart-centered and adaptive, reflecting Madhavi’s years of training and continual re-training. Confident and intuitive, she mixes the innovative and original with the timeless traditions of yoga.
Madhavi was certified as a yoga teacher by Yogi Hari in 1995 before Yoga Alliance was formed. She registered with Yoga Alliance after her teacher training in Integrative Yoga Therapy in 2000. Since then she has accumulated over 300 more hours of Vinyasa Yoga teacher training and studied Kundalini Yoga with Ravi Singh and Gurumukh. She has been profoundly inspired by all of her teachers, most notably Joseph LaPage, Shiva Rea, Tom Gillette, Amy Weintraub, Sarah Powers, Seane Corn, Rod Stryker, Todd Norian and Jonas Westring.
Before opening this studio nine years ago she taught yoga at several area locations including schools, hospitals, wellness centers, a YMCA, a fitness center, and other studios. She co-founded The Light Center, a yoga studio that operated in Lilburn from 1993 through 1996. Her career path outside of teaching yoga includes experience as a social service professional (managing the Gwinnett women’s shelter) and as an aerobics instructor.
In addition to teaching yoga Madhavi is an energy healer who is attuned as a Reiki master and trained as a Polarity therapist. She also is a pretty passionate vegan who is committed to the humane treatment of all animals.
