In the Spring of 2003, Mike, a native New Yorker, walked into a yoga class at Jivamukti Yoga Center in the Lower Eastside of Manhattan, with the expectation that an “exercise” class awaited him. He didn't fully know what to expect, but he thought a yoga class would be a great place for light stretching and a workout. What the class had in store for him was not like anything he had ever experienced before. At the beginning of class, the students sat cross- legged and the yoga instructor began preaching some stuff that he didn't understand and wasn’t familiar with. Then, the class began chanting the word "Om." Mike didn’t quite know what he thought about all of it. He didn't know anything about yoga, meditation, chanting, or spirituality. Initially, he was turned off by the chanting and meditation; he felt that perhaps yoga just wasn’t his thing. However, Mike kept an open mind and continued to take classes. Little by little, he understood more and more and began enjoying the “practice” of yoga. This was the beginning of his Yogic Path. In 2005, Mike met his guru (teacher), Sri Dharma Mittra, with whom he studied in NYC at Dharma Yoga Center. Mike eventually became a Yoga Alliance 500 hour advanced certified teacher in Dharma Yoga Levels 1-3 and also became initiated as one of Sri Dharma Mittra's disciples before leaving NYC for Colorado in 2007, to be with his wife. Sri Dharma Mittra gave Mike the Sanskrit name "Sadhu Om," which means the righteous and holy. Mike is continuing on his yogic journey in Colorado. As a disciple of Dharma Mittra, Mike teaches exclusively in the Dharma Yoga style; however, he keeps all of his teachers and their teachings with him on his yogic path. He has a busy schedule, teaching at yoga centers from Colorado Springs to Denver. His classes are for all levels of yoga practitioners. Mike demonstrates beginner, intermediate and advanced postures, making sure that each student is challenged and successful, no matter what level of practice the student has. He aims to inspire and share his knowledge of Dharma Mittra’s teachings with all of his students. Mike currently resides in Colorado Springs, Colorado.



Since residing in Colorado, Mike has gotten very involved with the Colorado yoga community. He was one of the guest teachers for the events Spark The Fire in Denver and Yoga Rocks the Park in 2009. He is also participating in Yoga Rocks Mountain Fest ’09 at Lyons, Colorado in August 21-23. Mike “Sadhu Om” and his wife, Charlotte is the Co-Founder of Pranava Yoga Center in Colorado Springs. Mike is also the ambassador for Manduka Yoga Mat.

Mike enjoys helping everyone to find their own teacher inside their heart.
