Welcome Yoga Students to Studio Yoga
Yoga in the tradition of B.K.S. Iyengar We offer classes for all skill levels and interests. Our community of yoga students includes everyone from the casual student attending one class per week to students who have been teaching for 20 years. Some students are looking toward teaching as a career. Other students are already professional full-time yoga instructors. Some are committed to the lineage of the Iyengar Yoga method, others are occasional students, in the area for a visit or just experimenting with different styles of yoga. We strive to meet the varied needs of our students and to take our students on a journey that is inconceivable as a beginning student just starting out – a journey that is at the same time fun, educational; inspirational, nourishing and fulfilling. Whether you are looking to yoga to relax and relieve stress or as an alternative method of exercise, Studio Yoga is the place for you!
Yoga Basics Learn simple limbering exercises, proper breathing, correct alignment, and foundational yoga poses to:
* energize and revitalize * become stronger and more flexible * develop greater mental concentration and clarity * cleanse the nervous system and restore calm
Open Yoga
Open Yoga is a lively and spirited class focusing on themes such as opening the hips and shoulders, or moving with the breath. This is a mixed level class and beginners are welcome although a knowledge of Yoga Basics is a plus. The use of props and modifications will be taught.
Higher Level Open Yoga
Work on detail, endurance, and a greater variety of poses including inverted poses. These classes are for serious experienced students The difficulty rating helps you see which of the classes will be more or less challenging.
